Captain Tom Moore 100 Challenge

Over the bank holiday weekend, the Essington Harriers have been taking part in the #CaptainTom100 challenge, completing 100 of something to honour Captain Tom Moore’s fundraising challenge before his 100th Birthday last year.

Tomorrow will be a good day

On 6 April 2020, Captain Tom Moore set out round his garden to thank our NHS heroes. One hundred laps later, he’d raised an incredible £38.9 million for the NHS Covid-19 appeal.

His simple message of hope – “Tomorrow will be a good day” – inspired millions around the world and brought comfort and joy to so many during the pandemic.

The Essington Harriers challenge was suggested by Tara and Sarah from the club, and initially included 50 laps around a 2km loop of Essington, but after very quickly filling up all 50 slots they decided to extend it to 100 laps around Essington.

This was an amazing effort from the club, and saw a mix of full club members and our Couch to Awesomeness runners getting involved. Well done to everyone who got involved.
