Why I’m a Mental Health Champion for Essington Harriers
Being a Mental Health Champion gives me the opportunity to share my own lived experiences of generalised anxiety and how I use running as a form of coping strategy to balance out day to day stress into something positive.
You will usually find me at weekly club runs and at my home parkrun, Walsall Arboretum, when it returns. I am often available to buddy up for weekend runs. Please do come over and say hi!
What has been your favourite race or racing memory so far?
VLM by far, I feel so lucky to have received a ballot place after my first entry and raised money for a male cancer charity
What are your pre-race rituals?
A good evening meal of quality carbs the evening before and a strong coffee on race day!
What are you pre & post race snacks?
Banana loaf pre race and just water post race
What advice would you give a new runner?
Stick with it, all miles are worth banking. Consistency is key, not speed.
What’s your proudest running achievement?
Finishing VLM feeling strong and with energy still left in the bank to do another lap!!
What future race ambitions do you have?
To complete an ultra distance one day
What are your favourite running shoes?
NEW BALANCE 860v11 for wide fit over pronation
What running kit do you use?
My Garmin watch to track my distance and monitor progress
What one thing should people know about you?
I’m enthusiastic about running, I love the outdoors and the sense of positive wellbeing that being active provides.
