White Peak Swift Half Marathon
21st May 2022 All day
Race Description
- The course is over the High Peak Trail, a firm compacted limestone and cinder surface on a former railway track making road running shoes ideal. There is one road crossing a little more than 1 mile from the start, which will be manned. This road is not busy, but traffic is fast on it and competitors are asked to take special care there.
- We do not have permission to stop the traffic, so you may have to wait a second or two for a gap in the traffic. It is imperative that you obey the marshals at this point.
- There will be water stations at Longcliffe and Middleton Top.
- The track descends in three stages, at 8, 9 Β½ and 11 Β½ miles (making it predominantly downhill and perfect for a PB) down to the High Peak Junction at the Cromford Canal. At this point, the canal crossing directly ahead is ignored in favour of a right turn and heading along the canal path for a short distance until the next bridge is reached. After crossing the bridge and turning left, there’s just over a mile to go along the tow path before turning right into Cromford meadows for the finish.
