Week 24 – The 10km’s

This week the Essington Harriers found themselves taking part in a number of 10km challenges. There were castles, hills and beer on offer, along with some Parkrunning, and an Ironman thrown in for good measure.

Gnosall 10k

The Gnosall 10K (ish ;-)) is a picturesque 11.2k multi-terrain race open to 400 runners of all abilities. Set in the village of Gnosall (situated in between Stafford and Newport), the race incorporates the Shropshire Union Canal, a disused railway line, farm lanes and field paths and it is arguably the most beautiful 10K (ish ;-)) in Staffordshire.

Ironman 70.3

Quaint Countryside and Castles in the Midlands

This first-timer friendly course traverses England’s stunning West Midlands countryside. With a reservoir swim, meandering bike course, and finish in Stafford’s Market Square, athletes will take true advantage of the region’s beauty.

Toughest challenge I’ve ever faced… first Ironman 70.3 complete✅

1.2 miles swim
56 miles bike
13.1 miles (questionable) running

Dark miles faced and got ugly on the run but soldiered through to one of the best feelings I’ve ever felt waiting at the end. Worth every minute of pain…. All 6 hours 18 minutes of them.
